Regulatory Services - Food and Safety Team

Regulatory Officer

Grade 9 £29,174- £32,798 + 10% Market Premium

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated officer to join a busy and forward-thinking team in Peterborough City

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Officer to join our high performing regulatory services team.

The excellent and innovative work that we achieve in Peterborough has been recognised with the service being shortlisted and winning several national awards. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of regulatory services delivery, encouraging innovation amongst team members to drive forward and develop the service.  As a forward-looking service we have arrangements in place to provide services for other councils.

This post is based in Peterborough, though you will also work closely with colleagues based in Oakham, Rutland. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.

This is your opportunity as a qualified food officer to play a key role in a range of regulatory and advisory activities to achieve compliance with food and health & safety legislation. Your skills in communication will aide you in achieving high quality customer-focused service delivery and positive public health outcomes, acting as a resource of experience, knowledge, and expertise in one or more specialist areas and where required. You will have experience of enforcing food safety legislation and ideally experience of enforcing health and safety legislation though this is not essential. You will carry out interventions, investigate complaints and infectious diseases, deal with private water supplies and provide business advice.

The service is developing commercial services and has several Primary Authority arrangements in place with national businesses. This role is also an exciting opportunity to engage with both existing Primary Authority partnerships and work with future clients.

The role requires excellent communication and team working skills and a flexible solution focussed approach.

For an informal discussion please contact   Liz Adamson (Principal Environmental Health Officer) on 01733 453542   or Jacqui Harvey (Head of Environmental Health and Licensing) on 01733 453502.

Closing Date: 27th June 2022
