About you

You will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with an accredited degree in Environmental Health and EHORB Registration or equivalent. You will have excellent communication skills and have experience of carrying out food and health and safety enforcement work . Experience of delivering training would be an advantage.

It is essential that you have good verbal and written communication skills. You will be required to work with a minimum of supervision.

As part of this role, you will be required to travel to work sites, premises and area offices throughout the city. There will also be some requirement to attend evening meetings and undertake some out of hours work.

About the role

There are 3 fixed-term vacancies. You will specialise in either Food or Health and Safety; all posts have an emphasis on supporting businesses back to pre-Covid activity.

The food safety posts will undertake a wide range of investigations in relation to business regulation within the city; assisting with the inspection of premises for food and health and safety; giving professional advice and dealing with associated complaints or incidents in areas such as noise, odour, light, waste management and infectious disease control.

The health and safety post will work alongside the Safety Advisory Group to ensure that event organisers are aware of legislative requirements and are able to run safe events. You will also plan and assist with targeted health and safety interventions and management of infection control.
