Full time, permanent opportunity, 37 hours per week with flexible working hours (Two Positions available)

You will be working alongside colleagues with backgrounds in Environmental Health Community Safety, Partnerships, Anti-Social Behaviour and Food Safety as we look to deliver our services in a strength-based approach to bring about sustainable improvements. Gloucester is a small, historic, and vibrant city on the edge of the Cotswolds and conveniently located along the M5 with good transport links to the rest of the country. Our offices are in the City Centre.

 

Our officers report to our Community Wellbeing Team Leader and work to improve the lives of residents and businesses in Gloucester City. This post will have a strong focus on environmental protection and/or food safety. The candidate will need to have experience in effectively dealing with statutory nuisance cases using engagement and enforcement skills and/or be able to complete the full risk range of food inspections and other associated food safety functions.

 

You will ideally be educated to degree level or have experience in an enforcement role and/or an environmental health background. To be considered in a food safety role you must possess the latest food competency requirements, as per Food Standards Agency guidance or have the baseline qualification to start to work through food competency. You should have strong communication and engagement skills to be able to bring environmental health cases to satisfactory completion; this role is agile and flexible and you will need to and be able to work as part of a team or on your own initiative.
