About the Role
Purpose of the job -
Maintaining the safety of our community by the inspection of commercial premises for food hygiene, standards and compliance with Health and Safety legislation
What the job actually requires -
Food hygiene and food standards inspections and revisits
Investigating food complaints
Rating businesses under the FSA food hygiene rating scheme
Undertaking Health and Safety at work inspections and investigations where appropriate
Providing advice and guidance to our food business operators on food law and Health and Safety at work legislation
The Environmental Health Commercial Food and Safety team is part of the Kingston and Sutton Shared Environment Service Regulatory Services. It enforces legislation across the boroughs of Kingston and Sutton. The service is hosted by the Royal Borough of Kingston. In this position you will be asked to work primarily across Kingston but will also undertake work in the London Borough of Sutton.
The team is a hard working close knit unit with high professional standards.
Kingston operates agile working which means that you will have the flexibility to work at hot desks currently in the Guildhall 2 Kingston and at the Civic Offices in Sutton as well as in your own home space. This allows you to arrange a good work - life balance. Our Team Charter ensures that there are set times for regular face to face team meetings and training sessions.
Casual user rates for mileage and team car parking passes are available
The position is open to full time and part time workers
You will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer EHORB registered with the knowledge and recent experience to demonstrate your ability to carry out official food controls and enforce food law in all categories of food premises. You will have the competencies to handle complex investigations and provide high standards of legal advice to food business operators.
You will have knowledge and experience of the Regulations and official controls for feed and food law as well as an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 PACE and RIPA amongst other legislation.
You will be competent and professional with good communication skills and able to work on your own initiative. You will be accurate adaptable and be organised, with an eye for detail and be comfortable working under pressure.
