Bedford Borough Council requires a part time (0.6fte) Environmental Health Officer in its Community Regulation team. The team is responsible for the range of activities across the fields of private sector housing, public protection, planning and pollution including statutory nuisance. The Council also has a large number of houses in multiple occupation and has operated a successful Additional Licensing scheme since 2013.
You will need to have the ability to deal with potentially confrontational situations with confidence, have good listening and negotiation skills and be able to adapt your style and approach as appropriate to each situation. Accurate record keeping skills are essential and you should be confident using a range of databases and other electronic systems.
Applicants should be fully qualified Environmental Health Officers and be EHORB registered, or equivalent, with demonstrable relevant previous experience.
