SENIOR SCIENTIFIC OFFICER
Salary £33,427 to £43,446 per annum

Hertsmere’s Environmental Health Department is looking to recruit someone who wishes to enhance their career within a small and friendly tea
We are looking for a new member of staff to carry out a diverse range of duties within the Environmental Protection Team.
The Council is committed to invest in our teams to ensure continuous progression of our staff through training and professional development.or this post, there will be the chance to undertake training to gain specialist technical knowledge and experience in the various areas of environmental health.
We are keen to receive applications from practised Environmental Health Officers, Technical Officers and Scientific Officers who have experience in contaminated land and the use of GIS mapping.
The role’s main duties will include the reviewing of contaminated land reports, liaising with the environmental permitting contractor in helping the Council fulfil its duties in respect to environmental permitting, private water supplies, responding to planning consultations, providing support with the councils air quality monitoring procedures and the production of technical reports for committees or those statutorily required by government agencies in a number of these areas.
The successful candidate will be well-organised, efficient and dependable; used to working within a fast-moving and challenging environment. They will be able to adjust to demands and define priorities, work rapidly and accurately and have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, elected members, senior managers within the Council and the general public.
The candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working hours as evening and weekend work may sometimes be necessary, and there will be an opportunity to participate in the out of hours standby service for which an additional allowance is paid.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week). Please note: The Council operates a hybrid working system which requires all employees to work from the Civic Office at least three days a week.
