This is a graduate training post that will enable to post holder to progress along the pathway to Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner.

Building upon the academic knowledge acquired on the CIEH Accredited BSc/MSc in Environmental Health the post holder will undertake a range of on work based activities in order to build their Environmental Health Portfolio and prepare for the Professional Discussion gateway for Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner.

The post holder will be part of the Residential Environmental Health Team and will be primarily responsible for supporting the team improving and maintaining housing conditions in the private rented sector.  There will, however, be opportunities to gain experience in at least one other area of Environmental Health namely:

•          Food Safety

•          Health and Safety at Work

•          Pollution

•          Nuisance and Public Health

Main duties of the job

As a Graduate in Environmental Health from one of the Universities accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health you should be ready to begin the next of your career by gaining work experience to complete the pathway to Registration as a Chartered Environmental Health Practioner.

This fixed term contract will provide you with a wide range of Environmental Health experiences to enable you to complete your EHP Portfolio and prepare for the Professional Discussion.

You should have a good understanding of Environmental Health issues in an inner city environment and the key interventions that are available to protect public health and safety.  You will need excellent communication skills and be confident at explaining requirements and processes to other people.  You will also need to be able to prioritise activities to meet targets and deadlines and take responsibility for planning and organising your personal development programme.
