About the role
At Charnwood Borough Council our Apprenticeship scheme provides the opportunity to develop an interesting and rewarding career, by providing excellent training opportunities and personal development. We offer a competitive salary whilst providing a great opportunity to gain vital work experience and a nationally recognised qualification. The successful candidate will be fully supported and mentored throughout the apprenticeship and be given protected time to complete the course work.
Working in our innovative Regulatory Services Team, the apprenticeship will provide the opportunity to learn different aspects of food safety and health and safety work such as inspection, food borne illness investigations, business advice, and project work. You will also be providing support and assistance to Pest Control, Street Management, Licensing and the Environmental Protection teams.
This is an exciting and varied role offering the chance to develop within this specialist area whilst being provided with all of the knowledge and training required to be successful. The work undertaken will reinforce the learning, providing evidence-based experiences to support the Regulatory Compliance Officer Level 4 qualification. The successful candidate will also be required to enrol on the Higher Certificate for Food Control. This is a 2 year training course and this additional qualification will provide you with the competency required to enable you to carry out food hygiene inspections.

The apprenticeship requires a candidate who is committed and willing to learn, can demonstrate a professional and friendly approach to customers, has strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to cope with the academic demands of the study required for this role.
