We’re easily accessible by both road and rail and we boast some of the nicest parks and green spaces in England. We’re an ambitious, forward thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers.

Following a Business Unit restructure, we are now recruiting for a Community Protection Manager to lead across both our environmental protection and community safety functions.

We are looking to recruit a progressive and experienced manager to oversee teams with the following specialisms: environmental protection (air quality, private water supplies, contaminated land, integrated pollution control and investigation of nuisances) community safety (anti-social behaviour, CCTV and community safety partnership).

Reporting to the Business Manager – Public Protection, you will be our lead professional in the delivery of community safety, environmental protection and enviro-crime and also manage the delivery of community protection in relation to the Newark and Sherwood Community Safety Partnership along with working with the police on anti-social behaviour issues.

You will be pivotal in building, leading and managing the new restructured team and play an integral role in delivering our local objectives and working closely with partners.

Applicants will be educated to degree level in a subject related to the job role and have previous experience across all core disciplines of enviro-crime, anti-social behaviour and environmental health and you will have a proven track record of achievement in problem solving, achieving compliance and customer satisfaction.

Experience of dealing with enforcement issues and investigating complaints of breaches of legislation along with excellent people management experience and communication skills is essential as well as having a political awareness.

We offer a competitive salary, enrolment in the local government pension scheme, flexible hours, hybrid working, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, and discounted membership at one of our four gyms in the district. You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
