Our district

Bradford is a city which offers a richness of culture and diversity; it is the fourth largest Metropolitan District in the country and home to a population of over ½ million residents.

Bradford and its surrounding areas has a great deal to offer. Housing is affordable and there are many desirable residential neighbourhoods within a reasonable commute of the city.  The district is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire and is the birthplace of the Brontes at Haworth.  The City is also actively competing to become the City of Culture 2025.

As you would expect from any city, rail links are excellent, frequent and fast. Leeds is 20 minutes away, whilst Manchester is an hour.  Bradford is on the Airedale Line which connects the city to the lovely market town of Skipton which is also the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.  Motorway links are good and convenient with the M606 being just 2 miles drive from our offices.

In order to apply for the EHO post you will need:

  • A recognised degree/MSc in Environmental Health or a recognised diploma in Environmental Health and a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board

In order to apply for the Trainee EHO post you will need:

  • A recognised degree in Environmental Health/MSc in Environmental Health.

At Bradford we employ Environmental Health Officers within both our Housing Service and our Environmental Health Service.  The current vacancies are within the Housing Standards teams but the post of Environmental Health Officer is a generic post and you may be required to undertake other Environmental Health Officer duties within one of the other Housing or Environmental Health teams.
