Ashfield is a great place to work valuing our employees, offering benefits including a very generous holiday entitlement, up to 34 days per year, local government pension and flexible working.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified and Registered Environmental Health Officer to join our EH Residential Team.

Your role will be to help improve housing standards in the District by working with property owners and landlords to ensure their homes are managed and maintained in accordance with existing legislation, regulation and good practice.

You will respond to enquiries and investigate cases on a range of housing matters. On most occasions, pro-active advice and support will be enough to ensure a successful and speedy outcome, where this fails you will use the full range of enforcement powers.

You will take a lead role in HMO inspections and the Council’s property licensing regime, including the successful selective licensing scheme.

You will have a good knowledge of housing standards and public health legislation and some experience of working in this field. You will have excellent communication skills and be a good problem solver and skilled negotiator.

The role is a varied one, it is both challenging and rewarding and sits within a team that is both ambitious and forward thinking.
