Full time:  36 hours per week, Permanent contract

Salary: MG3 £66,432 to £99,644

We believe there are innovative and collaborative solutions still to be found, and we are looking for an Assistant Director of Public Protection who can embrace change, provide clear direction and deliver results in challenging times.

About you

Our Assistant Director of Public Protection will lead an extensive portfolio to include the full range of regulatory services including, Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Community Safety, Licensing, Private Sector Housing, Emergency Planning and contracts for CCTV, Stray Dogs, and the Coroners and Mortuary services.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, ambitious and highly committed individual, with a demonstratable track record of developing partnerships, leading at a senior level, and with direct experience of managing change and delivering services within the regulatory landscape.

Reporting to the Director of Environment and Public Protection, you will provide strong collegiate leadership, and motivate the services within your remit to maintain operational excellence, whilst progressing the corporate ambitions within ‘Transforming Bromley’, and ‘Making Bromley Even Better’

You will manage revenue budgets, will ensure that the service statutory requirements are met, be ready to challenge the status quo and be forward thinking regarding the development of alternative delivery models where appropriate. You will also possess the credibility and gravitas to  provide portfolio advice to the Council, act as the professional lead for the services within your remit, and lead in the achievement of positive outcomes in all transactions undertaken on the Council’s behalf, as such, a professional background pertinent to one or more of the services in scope would be advantageous.
