You will hold a degree or diploma in environmental health, have experience in an environmental health housing role and have sound knowledge of housing legislation. The post holder is required to hold a suitable HHSRS assessment qualification. This post requires you to demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills; be able to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with people, be flexible, have customer service skills and be confident with regulatory enforcement. You will be capable of organising and prioritising work to meet deadlines and you will operate in a self-sufficient manner. The post holder will have a high standard of problem solving and decision-making skills.
The service is responsible for the regulation of the private rented sector, including Houses in Multiple Occupation and the investigation of service requests across all tenures. In addition, the service is responsible for the regulation of Statutory nuisance and domestic/commercial public health. We have a successful Additional HMO Licensing Scheme that is in its third term and the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (Rent Smart Wales - landlord licensing) has added another dimension to the work of this team.
