Senior Port Health Officer

Our client based in Kent are looking for 12 Senior Port Health Officers. As the implications of Brexit take a hold they need to add further resource to their team to help manage a huge volume of work at their brand new Border Control Facility in Kent.

The work of the Authority is vital to the smooth running of the border, and to the protection of food safety and public health in the UK. They ensure the smooth flow of safe food through Europe's busiest ferry port - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - and onto the shelves of shops and supermarkets across the country. And you could play a key role in shaping this expanded operation!

Their immediate requirement is to appoint at Principal Port Health Officer grade. The Council is working very closely with DEFRA and the project will involve multiple partner agencies and organisations and you will be presented with an opportunity to take your career in a whole new direction. At this grade you will manage assigned staff within the service and take lead responsibility for specific tasks within the wider remit of the Port Health Authority.

You will lead on all core activity in connection with Official Controls including carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin in order to ensure that only products that are safe to eat enter the food chain. You will have full opportunity to provide your expertise and input on shaping service delivery.

Along side a salary of £34,927 to £40,746 per annum (with a 14 % shift allowance increasing that to £41,769 - £47,272 per annum), you will be offered a generous holiday package as well as benefits including but not limited to extensive professional development and a fantastic pension scheme.
