Our client based in Kent is currently setting up a major UK Border Control Facility, working in conjunction with DEFRA. They are looking to recruit 11 Port Health Officers. The work of the Authority is vital to the smooth running of the border, and to the protection of food safety and public health in the UK. They ensure the smooth flow of safe food through Europe's busiest ferry port - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - and onto the shelves of shops and supermarkets across the country. And you could play a key role in shaping this expanded operation!
As a Port Health officer you will be carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin. You will be involved with checks on organic food, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing, animal composites and other relevant controlled goods. On a daily basis you will carry out document checks, serving to protect public health by applying port health controls on imports in accordance with relevant statutory provisions, rules and international trading standards.
You will be right on the front line as the country adapts to the changes brought about through Brexit and as such you will have the chance to take up a unique role with excellent career prospects.
The salary offered is £34,927 to £40,746 per annum with 14% shift allowance (£40,214 - £47,599). Relocation assistance will be provided to those moving from outside the immediate locality. You will be offered a generous holiday package as well as benefits including but not limited to extensive professional development and a fantastic pension scheme.
Our client is looking to hold first round interviews by the start of January with a view to having you in post by April 2022 so do not hesitate in applying.
