Buckingham Futures have fantastic Port Health opportunities at all levels in southeastern England.

This is your opportunity to work within a seaside location bursting with heritage, with several towns and villages within easy reach of the coast and excellent transportation links to London and across the continent via High-Speed trains or Cross Channel ferries. Our client is looking for both experienced, newly qualified, or soon to be qualifying, Environmental Health Officers/ Food Safety Officers to join their highly supportive and progressive team, where personal development and wellbeing is key.

They are looking for candidates to start as soon as possible but would be willing to wait for the right person. If you have experience in port health work you will be supported to take a lead role. If you do not have that background but have experience of working in food manufacturing/safety, environmental health, catering, port health, enforcement or any other relevant environment Buckingham Futures would still like to hear from you as you will be provided with the relevant training and support. Initially, these roles will work 37 hours a week but there is scope for part-time candidates to be considered.

Buckingham Futures are also looking for experienced Team Leaders who will manage and develop a team of multidisciplinary Port Heath colleagues to deliver the control checks. Reporting to the Port Health Manager and working alongside other team leaders, veterinarians and partner organisations you will be responsible for ensuring the service is effective and efficient.

Your key responsibilities will be to supervise and operationally manage the team including shift work allocation/prioritisation, ensuring operational performance meets or exceeds key performance indicators and that the service meets the organisational requirements for quality management, customer service, health and safety and legal/regulatory requirements. In addition, you will oversee database and administrative checks including the operation of Information Management Systems (such as the use of PHILIS and IPAFFS), producing reports to guide the service provision. Along with the usual people management skills required to manage a shift-based team, you will also be able to maintain and support established financial management systems so experience of this along with strong IT skills is essential. Due to the nature of these roles, an enhanced DBS check may be required which Buckingham Futures can do on your behalf.

Our client offers a great work-life balance shift pattern where you will be working 6 duties on (3 days and 3 nights) followed by 6 rest days on a rolling basis. In addition to a competitive base salary, other benefits include:
