About Us:
Use your skills to improve the quality of housing in the private rented sector

One of the most densely populated and diverse areas of the capital, Kensington and Chelsea has some 160,000 residents.

From Notting Hill to Ladbroke Grove, Knightsbridge to Earl’s Court, the private rented sector (PRS) is an important element of our housing provision.

We are committed to protecting the health, safety and welfare of residents when they are affected by poor housing conditions and deficient property management, whilst promoting professionalism and resilience in the sector. As a member of the team, you will find a uniquely supportive and forward thinking working environment.

The Role:
Joining a supportive team of six, you’ll carry out investigations and inspections of private sector housing to support licensing of houses in multiple occupation, enforce health and safety standards and advise on energy efficiency measures.

There’s a high level of ‘hands on’ casework and project work, dealing with everyone from vulnerable tenants to professional portfolio landlords.

Your overall aim will be to provide a high quality, customer-focused service that contributes to the overall improvement of housing conditions across this diverse borough.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:
Committed, passionate and resilient, your background could be in anything from surveying, building and planning to housing management, but you will need a good basic understanding of construction and some experience of enforcement.

We offer full training in risk assessment, energy efficiency and other technical areas, as well as peer-to-peer mentoring.

Also important is your ability to connect with residents, and fully understand their issues, so we’re looking for strong interpersonal skills.

Well-organised and systematic, you’ll be able to research and analyse information, and follow complex processes.

On joining the RBKC team, you not only benefit from a minimum of 28 days annual leave plus public holidays, an exceptional Pension Scheme, with an attractive employer contribution, In house fitness classes, as well as discounted Gym membership and free swimming.

You will also be joining an organisation that is focused on your career and development. Regular one to ones will give you the opportunity to plan a career path, identify training and qualifications needed to get you there and support in achieving your goals.

There has never been a better time to join RBKC as we go from Strength to Strength delivering outstanding services to our residents and community.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.
