Our Hertfordshire client is recruiting for a Team Leader on an interim basis.
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £300-£400 per day
Lead a team of specialist officers dealing with health and safety, food safety, Environmental Protection, health promotion and allied services.
Deliver direct services to the community to meet the aims and objectives of Environmental and Community Protection and the Council’s Strategic Aims.
Review performance against the service plans and work programs, to ensure that targets are being met and resources properly managed.
Act as a source of knowledge, expertise and professional advice in the relevant specialist field and oversee enforcement actions.
Ensure that operational policies and procedures within the specialist field are kept up to date.
Prepare, interpret and present accurate reports, data analysis and feedback, as requested.
Oversee the collection of evidence and preparation of cases for prosecution, across the whole range of Environmental and Community Protection and to deputise for the Group Manager (Environmental and Community Protection) as necessary, in taking ultimate responsibility for the presentation of prosecution files to Legal Services.
Work in partnership with stakeholders, residents and local businesses to deliver sustainable, efficient, well-targeted services which meet the requirements of the local better regulation agenda.
Ensure that all staff within the team are fully trained and within the specialist area, there are the necessary skills and expertise to deliver the full range of services, to a high standard.
BSc/MSc or Diploma in Environmental Health
Minimum 5 years post qualification experience working as a local authority EnvironmentalHealthOfficer/Practitioner
Minimum 18 months experience managing high quality, efficient, customer-focused Environmental Health services
Experience in developing and implementing Service Plans and Improvement Plans, motivating and managing the team to achieve the agreed targets
Proven experience in managing and seeking improvements in staff performance
Experience in providing direction and support across the full range of Environmental Health services, in particular with enforcement action, ensuring the most appropriate course of action is taken
