Are you looking for that new team to make an impact with? To bring a fresh approach to getting things done?

A Hertfordshire based council are looking for an Environmental Health manager for an initial 6 month contract. You will be heading up a team of 9 staff members, 3 of those being direct reports to yourself. The council is looking for someone confident in their skills, including:

  • Detailed understanding of the relevant legislation and the ability to act as the expert across the full range of Environmental and Community Protection
  • Ability to motivate and effectively lead a team of professional and technical staff.
  • A good understanding of local government finance and budgetary control
  • Ability to write and present detailed and complex reports to senior officers, Members, Primary Authority partners etc.
  • Ability to produce relevant policies and procedures in line with the Better Regulation agenda and ensure these are consistently implemented across Environmental and Community Protection.
  • Ability to oversee the collection of evidence and preparation of cases for prosecution, across the whole range of Environmental and Community Protection

Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience managing a similarly structured Environmental Health/ H&S team within a local authority.

Much of the work will be based remotely, with visits to the office once every week / fortnight.

Start date would ideally be in December, this would allow for some cross over with the current manger of whom you would be replacing. However, you will still be considered with a later start date.

Day rates of £500 - £600, depending on experience.
