Senior Environmental Health Officer – Food and Safety

Environmental Services, Licensing and Community Safety

37 Hours per week, Permanent Contract

Salary range: £35,545 to £39,913 per annum plus £2,907 Car Allowance per annum.

Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience  

An opportunity has arisen to work in the Food and Safety team of the shared Environmental Health Service with Wealden Council; covering much of the beautiful rural area of East Sussex and including the towns of Bexhill, Crowborough, Hailsham and Rye.

The supportive team of ten SEHOs covers all aspects of food hygiene, health and safety supporting local businesses whilst protecting public health. Additionally, the team provides a food certifying service to our fish export hub in Rye (weekdays only).

Applicants must be registered as an Environmental Health Practitioner with the EHORB. Food competency is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided including for the food certifying role.

The food and safety team sits within a traditional Environmental Health service which has office bases in both Hailsham and Bexhill. Members of the team work flexibly, combining work from home with site visits and office.
