Compliance and Enforcement Officer

Our client, a North London Borough council, is looking to appoint a Compliance Enforcement Officer on a permanent basis. This role offers a salary of £34k-£38K, along with other great incentives.

This is an exciting opportunity, offering the chance to join a very active team working on major licensing schemes - mandatory and selective. They have approximately 30,000 rented properties in the Borough and they have a major recruitment drive across the team as they significantly step up their activity.

You will be responsible for investigating and undertaking a wide range of enforcement actions to improve housing conditions across the private rented sector in the borough. The candidate must have excellent knowledge of private sector housing and property licensing, including the enforcement and regulatory functions within the Housing Act 2004 and landlord and tenant law.

You will be responsible for the inspection and investigation of suspected unlicensed properties and HMOs, gathering evidence and preparing legal case files for the purposes of civil proceedings and prosecutions. You will have knowledge and experience of using legislation to take enforcement action and criminal investigations with an understanding of Court procedures and providing expert evidence.

You will need a proactive approach, be driven and have the ability and remain effective when faced with difficult and demanding situations and people. You must have excellent communication skills and have experience working in partnership with external agencies and other key partners.
