Senior Housing Environmental Health Officer

SECTION: Private Housing

SALARY: Grade 8 £37,343 - £42,006 per annum

Improving the health and welfare of our Swale Borough Council’s residents is an important role we take seriously. To help us achieve this we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated person to fill the busy Senior Housing Environmental Health Officer role.

As part of a small team, you will report to the private sector housing manager and you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the private sector housing teams services and manage its two enforcement officers. You will manage your own case load, undertake all aspect of environmental health in relation to housing and mandatory HMO licencing programme along with HMO enforcement activities.  

The successful candidate should hold a degree in Environmental Health, Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Board and hold a certificate and have experience in using HHSRS to assess properties. You must have excellent communication and organisational skills with significant experience and knowledge to undertake the work, and the ability to lead and motivate others to achieve the aims and responsibilities of the Council.

Other information

This role will require you to carry out site visits and to support officers when necessary, we have adopted a flexible working approach to improve work-life balance. This includes working from home, attending the office two days a week or more and face to face meetings to ensure the functions of the department are managed and maintained.

You must have a full driving licence and the use of a car.

This is full time position on a permanent contract.
