About job

This is part of a progression scheme and we are looking to appoint at the appropriate L6 - M2 grade.

Do you have baseline qualifications in food safety, or are you already an experienced Environmental Health Officer or Technical Officer? Then this is the job for you.

We have two exciting opportunities in the Commercial Regulatory Services team, where you’ll implement and deliver complex reactive and planned workload in relation to food hygiene, food standards and health and safety, taking appropriate enforcement action to drive up compliance levels within the Borough, protecting public health.

We offer agile, flexible working and are open to job share opportunities.

About you

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing.

You will have an in-depth current knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, priorities and strategies to secure compliance.

In addition to routine and reactive work, there will be many other opportunities for you to take advantage of; including approved premises inspections, smoke free inspection and enforcement, creation and delivery of training courses, and leading on projects.

We have close links with the Food Standards Agency in line with the Achieving Business Compliance (ABC) Strategy, with pilot projects involving our primary authority and routine statutory work.

Located just 22 minutes from London by train, with excellent links to the M1 it makes Luton one of the most affordable commuter towns in the country.

So if you have knowledge of environmental health legislation, topical issues and priorities and strategies to secure compliance and the ability to write concise and accurate reports and documents and deliver presentations then we look forward to reading your application.
