We are seeking skilled and dedicated Environmental Health Officers to join our Environmental Health team. Successful candidates will be responsible for enforcing a wide range of legislation and providing advice in line with Council policy and government requirements. As one of the largest local authorities in the UK, Birmingham is a diverse and exciting place to work with excellent opportunities created by a challenging and varied workload. You will be joining a busy, friendly, and professional team with prospects to gain experience in a wide range of subject areas as well as operate in a variety of commercial and domestic settings.

Environmental Health Officer applicants will have a degree/diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered. However consideration will be given to those who have completed the BSc/MSc qualification and we will provide opportunities to support you through the competency framework and practical training to complete the registration pathway (here, if successful, candidates will be offered an Enforcement Officer position until authorised).

All applicants will have experience in enforcement interventions, an ability to use a range of computer packages, have excellent communication skills with a range of different communities, stakeholders and businesses, the ability to work on several different cases at any one time in a busy environment and the requirement to drive is essential. You will be expected to travel within Birmingham for which you will be remunerated for the use of your car.

Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.

For informal enquiries please contact Nick Lowe Operations Manager Nick.Lowe@birmingham.gov.uk

We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.

Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants.  All non-UK applicants (excluding Ireland) may require a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must have an approved visa from the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) before any employment offer can be confirmed. Unless they are an EEA or Swiss citizen or their family members, already living in the UK by 31 December 2020, then they will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) instead.
