Environmental Health Protection and Trading Standards Practitioner

We are seeking a dynamic and results-focused individual to assist the team in carrying out all work areas within the Statutory Nuisance/Housing Standards Team including housing disrepair, houses of multiple occupation (HMO) and licensed premises. 

The successful candidate will take a lead role in relation to licensed caravan sites and an understanding of all matters relating to this area of work is desirable.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-focused individual to assist the team in carrying out all work areas within the Statutory Nuisance/Housing Standards Team including housing disrepair, houses of multiple occupation (HMO) and licensed premises.  The successful candidate will take a lead role in relation to licensed caravan sites and an understanding of all matters relating to this area of work is desirable.

You will be expected to carry out routine inspections and enforcement work for all the areas outlined above and will be responsible for your own case load and any alleged breaches of legislation.  This will involve, carrying out enquiries, service of notices, arranging works in default, determining legislative compliance and producing prosecution files.

Whilst a relevant professional qualification is essential, consideration will also be given to part qualified candidates or those with previous experience and/or qualification in Environmental Health or another related field.  Knowledge and experience of undertaking inspections under the Housing, Health & Safety Rating System is essential.

You will have excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills and a proven track record of delivering excellent results.

We are looking to recruit to one full time position (37 hours).

The contractual work location for this role is listed above however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
