Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place. The council and its partners have pledged to #BeTheDifference.

We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2025. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities - #BeTheDifference.

It is an exciting time to join Wirral Council.  Our professional and dedicated Environmental Health team are recruiting for two positions for Environmental Health Officers.  Wirral EH carry out a wide range of public protection duties including food safety, health and safety, pollution and noise to animal health and shellfish bed classification.  The posts may also contribute to supporting the Wirral covid 19 hub.  Wirral Council has ambitious plans to recover our EH services from the covid 19 pandemic.  We offer a supportive and friendly working environment, with highly flexible working options including home working, modern office accommodation and flexible working policies designed to help you maintain a good work / life balance.

Overall, you will have masses of enthusiasm for EH, be keen to work across various areas of the service and have a positive can-do attitude and approach.  We are looking for people who really want to make a difference to protecting our residents and visitors to Wirral.

We are ideally looking for somebody who is experienced in food law enforcement and meets the competency requirements set out in the Food Law Code of Practice.  Experience of health and safety enforcement would also be advantageous.  For both roles, exceptional newly qualified candidates will be considered.  Applicants must hold an accredited degree or diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent and have EHRB registration, or equivalent.

Wirral is well connected and easily accessible from many major Cities and towns including Liverpool, Chester and Manchester. Our flexible working policies compliment these links making Wirral a great choice.

For more information or an informal discussion please contact Chris Smith, Senior Manager - Environmental Health at christophersmith@wirral.gov.uk.

Interviews are planned for w/c 29th November 2021.
