Closing Date: 31-Oct-2021@23:59

This post is initially for 24 months.

‘Serving People, Improving Lives’ is our corporate strapline, which underpins the purpose and culture of Gedling Borough Council. At GBC, we are focussed to make a positive contribution to our communities and play a key role in improving health, safety and addressing inequalities.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our busy and friendly Food, Health and Housing Team.

The successful candidate will primarily be focussed on Occupational Health and Safety and will be required to carry out a wide range of health and safety functions, including visits, inspections, proactive initiatives and accident and complaint investigations.

Part of the remit will include working with the Local Resilience Forum and ensuring businesses comply with their health and safety responsibilities to protect staff and customers from Coronavirus.

For this role we want a candidate with specific occupational health and safety skills and experience, however the generic job description outlines the broad range of duties that the successful applicant will need to respond to according to the needs of the service and customers.

We welcome applications from EHORB registered Environmental Health Officers or graduates with a degree in Environmental Health who are able to work towards EHORB. The successful applicant will be given opportunity to develop and apply a wide range of environmental health related skills as required for the position.

We offer flexible working hours, contribution to the Local Government pension scheme and support and training within a friendly working environment. A full driving licence and use of a car is required for this post.

This is a career graded post and candidates will be appointed on the following scales:
1. EHRB registered (£32,910 to £34,728 band 9)
2. Environmental health degree, BSc or MSc (£30,451 to £32,234 band 8)

For an informal discussion please contact Sam Palmer, Food, Health and Housing Manager on 0115 9013846.

The closing date for completed applications is midnight on Sunday 31st October 2021
