Are you looking for a challenge and to be part of a new team delivering a new initiative?
We are seeking an enthusiastic officer to become part of our Selective Licensing Team to ensure private rented homes are licensed and comply with the minimum legal standards.
This role is initially on a 1 year temporary contract but could be extended should the scheme expand into other areas.
You will assist with the private sector housing functions of the service and be responsible for inspecting rented homes, drafting and issuing licences as well as offering advice to landlords to comply with their legal obligations and where necessary taking appropriate enforcement action.
Knowledge of private sector housing enforcement methods, legislation, regulations and codes of practice is essential. Knowledge of issuing licences in private sector housing is desirable. This post is full-time and would be suitable for experienced officers or graduates seeking Local Authority experience.
Salary for the post is between bands 7-8. To be placed within band 8 you will need to be able to:
- Take a lead role in respect of regulation of HMOs, Selective Housing and Overcrowding
- Represent the Council at Residential Property Tribunals
- Perform and justify the Housing, Health and Safety Rating assessments and determine the most satisfactory course of action
