Experience the extraordinary with a move to Folkestone & Hythe District Council.

Recognised by Best Companies as an outstanding organisation to work for, we have a real focus on staff engagement, health & wellbeing and development, and offer a benefits package that includes corporate membership and reward schemes, an Employee Assistance Programme and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme. While our modern offices are in the heart of Folkestone, with easy access to transport links, local shops, entertainment facilities and the seafront, we have a flexible working culture and support and encourage agile and home working where possible.

Private Sector Housing Officers play a vital role in improving the conditions and management of privately rented homes within our district. Responding to complaints you will undertake inspections and investigations across the local area, advise landlords and tenants of their rights, obligations and duties, and take enforcement and prosecution action where appropriate. Actively contributing to the council’s priority of delivering sustainable, affordable housing, you will also play key role in identifying and bringing empty homes back into use.

You will need to be experienced in dealing with environmental health or housing matters, and have a sound working knowledge of construction, building and/or surveying and relevant Housing legislation and assessment processes, including fire safety. You will be customer focused, with good communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. But above all else, if you’re as passionate about making a real difference to those that live in our communities as we are, then we want to hear from you.
