£28,672 - £31,346 – Entry level 1 (Grade 9)

£32,234 - £33,782 – Entry level 2 (Grade 10)

Full time, 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bedford Borough Council for a Food Safety professional within the Food Regulation and Control team responsible for delivering, and enforcing, a range of regulatory functions including Food Safety, Food Standards & Infectious Disease.

This is an exciting and challenging post that will allow you to experience a range of environmental health functions with support to deliver an effective and efficient service. You will assist businesses to understand and comply with regulatory requirements, supporting their success and growth, as well as utilise a range of enforcement interventions where these may be required. You must be a positive, highly motivated and organised individual with the ability to deliver against a challenging and rewarding work plan.

You will be joining a busy, friendly, supportive and professional team within a forward-thinking and innovative service which is already utilising technology to enhance the service we deliver and provide its officers with efficient and modern working practices supporting a great work life balance.

Ideally you will have experience of operating within a similar role, with a range of associated knowledge and investigative skills to help protect the public and legitimate businesses.

Applications for one of the posts will be considered from those close to obtaining the CIEH Higher Certificate in Food Control, that have completed their academic study, and are seeking to complete the Competency Development Portfolio and Professional Discussion. Appointment for such applicants will be at Entry level 1 (Grade 9), progressing to Entry level 2 (Grade 10) upon being successfully awarded the Higher Certificate in Food Control.
