Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead our Public Protection service.

We are looking for an experienced leader who understands our ambition around excellent service for customers, as well as leading the way on a number of our regulatory services.

This role has responsibility for Environmental Enforcement and Management, Food Safety, and Licensing. You will need to understand Licensing Authority responsibilities, climate change issues, regulatory functions, be financially astute and have a long-term mindset.

You will need strong experience in performance and people management, as well as financial management. Experience of managing large operational teams within a public protection setting is also essential.

Both councils have passed Climate Change motions which makes this an exciting time to join this great organisation. This team also plays a large part of the response and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working at home and it has worked really well for us.

Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk; working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost the local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.
