Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place. The council and its partners have pledged to #BeTheDifference.

We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2025. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities - #BeTheDifference.

About the role

In this role, you'll be responsible for improving housing standards across the Borough by working pro-actively and providing advice and guidance, undertaking property inspections and enforcement activity to reduce hazards in housing in the private sector.

The role is an interesting and varied job as it requires generic working across all private sector housing disciplines including selective licensing, mandatory licensing of houses of multiple occupation, property accreditation, the delivery of financial assistance products to improve housing and bringing back into use long term empty properties.

We are looking for someone who has experience of surveying and inspecting housing, ideally you will have a sound knowledge of housing legislation across all areas of housing standards, but in particular with HMOs ' or someone who is willing to develop their technical expertise in this area. It is important that you should have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills and can work independently using a range of computer software packages including Microsoft Office and Teams.

You should be customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills as well as experience dealing with the public face to face and over the telephone.

Above all you will be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees, residents and customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.

The vacancy is for an initial fixed term of 12 months, however there is potential to extend this further for the successful candidate subject to funding being available.

The proposed interview date will be Friday 29th October 2021

Should you wish to discuss informally, please contact Steve Bowers on 0151 691 8120.
