£37,890 - £41,881 per annum

The successful applicant may be awarded an additional payment in respect of additional duties associated with being the single point of contact for Environmental Health to the Service Head. This will be discussed at interview.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative leader to manage our Food Safety and Health & Safety Team. Work areas include food safety, infectious disease control and health & safety enforcement.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the team, acting as the Food Team Lead and appropriate Officer on behalf of the Council.

Working in partnership with the Licensing Manager and Environment and Public Protection Manager you will be required to effectively plan and develop the Environmental Health and Licensing Service activity in-line with the strategic plans of the council and relevant partner organisations such as the Public Health and the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The department comprises of a small, busy customer focused team who plan their own workload using a risk based approach. Your role is to direct and lead the team and provide the appropriate support to enable the team to carry out their duties effectively and ensuring that customers’ needs and requirements are taken into account. It will be your responsibility to ensure appropriate and consistent enforcement action is taken and any decision is based on material evidence and is well documented.
