West Northamptonshire Council is an attractive place to live and work. Formed on 1st April 2021, and one of the largest unitary councils in the country. It’s responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the areas of Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire.

We are starting on an exciting journey of transformation, and a fantastic opportunity has arisen for 2 permanent full time Environmental Protection Officer (EPO) posts (Part time applications will also be considered). One position will be based in Towcester and one will be based in Daventry with an element of home working for both, and the requirement to work from any other office as required. We are looking for highly motivated, organised and creative EPO’s. You will carry out environmental protection duties and enforcement for environmental nuisance, environmental pollution (including air quality, pollution control, radon and contaminated land); public health drainage, travelers and burials so that the Council can fulfill its statutory obligations and improve the quality of life for residents in our area.

You will also provide specialist advice to the public and internal partners, including commenting on planning application and licensing consultations, whilst also providing support to businesses and residents to aid compliance.

A commitment to team working is paramount to this post. You will benefit from the support of motivated and committed colleagues and be able to benefit from training and career development opportunities, as well as making a difference to the community.

We know that our staff are key to our success, and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our priorities of delivering customer centered, valued and sustainable services that inform, support and protect our communities.

The council offers excellent flexible working conditions, a generous holiday entitlement, a comprehensive pension scheme, and access to an employee benefits scheme offering discounts on purchases from numerous retail outlets.

Closing date 23:59 Friday 1st October
Interviews will be held on 7th/8th October 2021.
