An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join Chesterfield Borough Council’s Private Sector Housing Team. The Private Sector Housing team recognise that health and wellbeing is directly affected by housing conditions.

The team work to improve living conditions for those living in private sector accommodation across the borough, through regulation of privately rented accommodation, investigation of allegations of harassment and illegal eviction, delivery of financial assistance for housing repairs, Disabled Facilities Grants, mandatory HMO and residential Mobile Home Park Licensing, taking action against unauthorised traveller encampments as well as the delivery of the Councils Empty Homes Strategy.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to take a senior role in the day-to-day supervision of the Private Sector Housing Team and to take a lead role in the delivery of the service.

You will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer and have extensive previous housing enforcement experience and be qualified and experienced in the use and application of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System within a Local Housing Authority environment. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be IT literate, and able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team: committed to undertaking continuing training and development.

A flexible approach to working hours is required to fulfil this 37-hour contract, to be worked between Monday and Friday each week This post requires you to have a valid driving license and your own car available for work purposes.
