Salary: £32,910 to £36,922 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic officer to join the Environmental Protection Team.

The Environmental Protection Team is a front line regulatory team who provide a range of services including the private sector housing, pollution control, noise and nuisance control, fly tipping and environmental crime investigations and liaison with the planning and licensing authorities.

This role is primarily focussed on delivering the Council’s private sector housing service including responding to housing standard enquires, the application of the Housing Health Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and the inspection of Houses in Multiple Occupation.

The successful applicant will either hold a relevant degree or an HND/C (or equivalent), together with relevant experience and training.

You must have excellent communication and customer care skills, as well as being able to prioritise and meet deadlines. The ability to work well as part of a team as well as on your own is crucial. A full driving license and daily access to a vehicle is also essential.

The Senior Environmental Protection Officer will be responsible for policy and process development within the section and supporting/mentoring the EPOs within the team, as well as managing their own caseload.

This is a demanding role and the successful candidate will be well organised and able to work flexibly. Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
