SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER – FOOD, OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND LICENSING
Salary £39,000
(Grade 11 with a market supplement of £2,500)
Designated car user allowance, agile working
37 hours per week
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified officer to lead, supervise and be responsible for our team dealing with food safety, occupational safety, infectious disease control and animal licensing and registrations.
The successful applicant must be qualified and competent in accordance with the current Food Law Code of Practice to act as the Authorities ‘Lead food Officer’ and have recent experience working in food safety in a Local Authority.
You should also have worked as an authorised officer under section 19 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and hold a relevant additional qualification.
You will need to be highly motivated and able to work independently with experience in managing and leading a team, developing procedures and policies and ensuring service delivery targets and statutory inspection programmes are defined and delivered.
Ideally you will have experience in the licensing of animal activities and the licensing and registration of skin piercing/skin colouring and other special treatments.
You should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret legislation and enforce it in a balanced way using all of the tools available. The successful applicant should also possess the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You must be a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
You will also participate in the duty systems, complex cases, campaigns and initiatives and proactive inspection programmes.
