Make a real difference in our community, help to make a Safer Greenwich - our Community Protection Team is seeking to recruit a number of Community Protection officers on a permanent basis.

The service has recently gone through a period of reorganisation and we would like to hear from exceptional candidates to join us on this exciting journey to shape the new service.

The team investigates Anti-Social Behaviour, Noise and Statutory Nuisance and we are looking for individuals with strong problem-solving skills, enforcement experience, and with a can-do attitude.

As a professional officer you will take, where necessary, appropriate and proportionate enforcement action in accordance with the Council policies and relevant legislative provisions, and contribute towards the Councils objective for a Safer Greenwich.

Targeted outcomes for our service include partnership working and interventions through Integrated Enforcement. We have really strong working relationships with both internal and external partnership organisations including the Police.

You will be required to work a shift pattern which includes nights and weekends and will participate in multi-agency operations. Recent examples of these include responding to unlicensed music events and short term let properties illegally used for parties during the covid-19 lockdowns.

This post reports to the Community Protection Team Manager and sits withing the Environmental Health (Pollution and Residential) Section.

Successful candidates will have strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer-centered, methodical approach to investigation procedures. You will be able to carry out monitoring and inspections and will have an awareness of personal safety precautions.

Applicants must possess a valid driving license and be able to provide daily use of a vehicle suitable for Council business.

Royal Borough of Greenwich reserves the right to close any vacancy earlier than the advertised closing date should there be a high volume of applications received.
