We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our busy Housing and Health Team. The successful candidate will deal with a range of issues affecting housing and health for individuals and communities across Maidstone district with a special focus on domestic energy efficiency.

A strong team player, with a keen interest in improving housing conditions you will contribute to the efficient and effective performance of the team. Aside from the focus on domestic energy efficiency you will also support the team with the full range of housing matters including; investigations and inspections of dwellings and houses in multiple occupation; licensing HMO’s; preparation and service of relevant statutory notices and take other enforcement action where necessary.

We would also expect you to have an understanding of relevant housing legislation and can inspect residential property to assess and report on its condition, that you can identify and assess hazards using Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and recommend appropriate remedial action.

This is a full-time position, on a permanent contract, working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday, with the scope for agile working under the Council’s new agile working arrangements, dependant on the needs of service. 

This role is customer-facing and the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential element of the role.

The Council considers that the successful applicant will have access to young people and/or vulnerable adults and it is a requirement under The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 that you hold a standard disclosure and barring scheme check. Upon successful appointment, you will be required to provide evidence of a standard DBS check if you subscribe to the DBS Update Service or complete the process to obtain a DBS check.
