Environmental Health Officer

Fixed term (maternity leave)

Full time, 37 hours per week

Scale SO1/2, £27,741 - £32,234 per year

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Health Officer to undertake a range of reactive and proactive duties across the Environmental Health Team.  Your responsibilities will involve responding to nuisance complaints across the District and public health matters such as drainage, pest control and filthy and verminous premises as well as undertaking inspections of houses using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.

You will be undertaking a range of functions carried out by the Environmental Protection and Private Sector Housing Team and should have experience of conducting inspections and investigations across a range of activities. You must be able to interpret and implement key legislation and work with partner agencies.

You will have 2 years’ experience in Environmental Health or an associated discipline and be an excellent communicator who will be able to negotiate with customers’ often in face to face situations and have a tactful and assertive manner. You will also have excellent organisation and time management skills and be able to work effectively either alone or as part of a team.

The role involves travelling throughout the district with equipment, so you will also need a valid UK driving licence and access to a car or suitable mode of transport.
