Blaby District Council is at the heart of Leicestershire with a mix of rural and urban communities, one of the largest retail parks in England and a growing Tourism and Hospitality Sector.   Following an internal promotion, we are looking to recruit a highly motivated and ambitious Environmental Health Manager to develop and manage our service.  The Environmental Health Team covers Public Health, Private Sector Housing, Food Safety, Health & Safety, Infectious Diseases, Environmental Protection, Noise, Enviro-crime, Empty Homes and Community Protection.   Working with the Environmental Health, Housing & Community Services Group Manager, you will help to shape and focus the provision of existing and new services that are important to our communities and customers.  

You will play a leading role in investing in our people and streamlining the systems used and securing appropriate technology for efficient service delivery.   You will empower the team to be self-sufficient, to make decisions at a local level, and to use professional and technical expertise in a flexible way, without being tied to the traditional limitations of the office environment.   The key requirements of the role are:

• To drive the team to provide an outstanding customer experience.
• To assist in service transformation, innovation and cultural change.
• To ensure that the team responds to Council, community and customer needs efficiently and effectively.

This position will initially, in line with current government guidance be based from home.  If and when government guidelines change the role is likely to  revert to being office based for some of the time.
