We are looking for the right person to join our busy Pollution Team within the areas of both East Hampshire District Council and Havant Borough Council through a shared workforce arrangement. Are you that person?

You will be part of an enthusiastic team whose work areas deal with a range of complaints from business and domestic sources. The remit of the team includes investigating all types of nuisance complaints, responding to and providing advice in connection with planning and licensing consultations, air quality, LAPPC and some public health functions.

You will need to have the ability to deal with confrontational situations confidently, calmly, assertively, and impartially. It is also crucial to have good listening and negotiation skills and to be capable of adapting your style and approach to different situations and groups of people. You will need excellent interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with internal departments as well as the public and other organisations.

It is essential that you can keep detailed, concise, and accurate records of all visits and actions and be confident using a range of databases and other electronic systems. You will receive support, training and supervision as required depending on your background and experience.

The work would normally be office based at both East Hampshire Council’s office in Penns Place as well as Havant Borough Council’s office at the Public Service Plaza. With regular site visits to be undertaken in these areas, a current full driving licence along with the use of car for work is essential.

In return for your hard work and contribution, we can offer you a competitive salary, generous annual leave, flexi time, free parking, leisure centre discounts, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and more. Take a look at our website for the full range of benefits and support we offer our staff https://www.easthants.gov.uk/benefits-working-ehdc

To apply, please send your CV and a supporting statement to recruitmentsupport@havant.gov.uk including the reference number in your supporting statement. Please also complete and include the Equal Opportunities form provided on our website.

The council is an inclusive employer and appoint on merit. We are a Disability Confident Employer and have a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Veterans.

Closing date for receipt of applications is midnight on 27/07/2021

Interviews due to occur in Mid-August 2021
