We are pleased to offer an opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer within our Food Safety team: an opportunity to enjoy the challenge of delivering a key front line service in a diverse range of food businesses.

You'll hold a relevant degree or diploma, EHORB registration, and have some experience of inspecting high risk category food premises. You will hold the broad range of skills needed to meet the requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice (Wales). You will have experience of dealing with and investigating infectious and communicable diseases. The post requires you to demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills; be able to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with people and be confident in all areas of regulatory enforcement. You will be capable of organising and prioritising your own work to meet challenging deadlines and you will operate in a self-sufficient manner.

The main focus of the team is to deliver statutory public health interventions across a wide variety of food businesses throughout the City. The team has developed commercial services including paid for advice and food hygiene training, and maintains a number of high profile Primary Authority relationships. There will be opportunity to assist with other areas of work such as port health, health & safety and communicable disease and you can expect to play a meaningful role in the Council’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
