Salary Grade: I - £44,254 - £48,288 (full time, 2-year fixed term contract)

Epping Forest District Council has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join its Private Sector Housing Team.

The PSH team are responsible for the investigation and enforcement  of private sector housing complaints, allegations of harassment and illegal eviction, HMO licensing, empty property work, the licensing of residential mobile home sites, filthy and verminous premises, pest control and public burials.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and well driven Environmental Health Officer with a proven track record in private sector housing enforcement with the ability, confidence and passion to succeed.

You will be required to deal with the worst rogue landlords and agents exploiting tenants in the private rented sector and will take personal responsibility for investigations into unlicensed and/or dangerous HMO properties, carrying out reactive and proactive inspections, serving enforcement notices, issuing civil penalties and taking prosecutions.  It is also important that in addition to being able to enforce regulatory requirements that you have the skills necessary to build and maintain positive working relationships with landlords.

To apply for this position, you  must hold a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHRB registered and be certified as competent in HHSRS.  You will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to think creatively  to find solutions to problems.

A full driving licence and access to a car available for work is essential for this role.
