Our client in the South West is looking for an experienced Licensing officer. The key purposes of the job are to improve and maintain public safety within the local area by ensuring effective use of licensed control over specified activities, including; premises licences, gaming licences, pavement cafe licences, hackney carriages, private hire vehicles, sex shop licences, street trading, etc.

You will work in conjunction with the licensing team and the wider department/Council to ensure effective business support, covid enforcement and compliance with legislation by licence holders and other persons who may need to be licensed.

For this role it is essential that you have a solid background in Licensing and enforcement. You must be an excellent communicator as you will interacting with trade representatives and members of the public.

Although this role will be predominantly home working, you will be expected to be on site maybe once a month and therefore proximity and travel must be considered seriously before applying. You would need to work a Thursday and cover Licensing Committee but that can be done remotely. So you need to be experienced at writing and delivering Licensing Act committee hearing reports.

The client is looking for someone to start ASAP and the contract will run for an initial 9 month period with the likeliness of an extension afterwards. This is a full time role, or at least 4 days per week and the pay will be £30-£32ph (umbrella)
