The Orkney Islands regularly come out on top in surveys measuring the best quality of life in rural parts of Scotland and the UK. A cosmopolitan community with high employment rates, positive happiness levels, low crime rates, excellent educational and recreational facilities all contributing to an excellent quality of life. Fresh air, wide open spaces, a strong cultural life and history and archaeology and a warm welcome entice many visitors from across the world to this vibrant and innovative community comprising 20 inhabited islands.
