West Northamptonshire Council have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join their Private Sector Housing Team.

Following the success of the Council’s innovative intelligence-led enforcement regime, the Council are seeking appoint a qualified and experienced Housing Enforcement Officer to join its team and continue this exciting journey. The successful candidate will quickly become an essential part of this approach, and work with a range of partners in a complete multi-agency approach to Housing enforcement.

The Team have been turning heads and getting results in ensuring that the Private Rented Sector is providing safe and sustainable accommodation, unsafe and unlicensed properties are brought back into compliance, and that those who seek to benefit from criminal, rogue and irresponsible behaviours are dealt with in line with the Council’s enforcement regime.

Having gone through local government reorganisation, and transformed from a District to Unitary Council, the private sector housing policies, and the intelligence-led enforcement regime has been fully endorsed by the new Council and embedded into its newly approved policies.

We are now looking to appoint a driven Housing Enforcement Officer who is serious about making optimum use of civil penalties, rent repayment orders, management orders and licensing fees in order to tackle housing criminals and improve conditions in the private rented sector.

To meet the requirements of this exciting role, you should ideally have working knowledge and experience of private sector housing enforcement and the confidence and passion to succeed.
