Food Safety Inspector

Our client has 400 food premises to inspect within the 2021-22 financial year with a likely start date late June / early July; so roughly 45 per month on average. The task could easily be managed by 1 Inspector but we are happy to split the workload if you cannot take on the full quota.

You will be required to undertake a full food safety and hygiene inspection using the Council's standard inspection pro-forma. You will identify any key areas of non-compliance with legal (and health and safety) requirements, in particular to determine if there is need for a Hygiene Improvement Notice or a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice. You will establish and issue the Food Hygiene Rating Score. You will complete the Council's standard pro-forma for each inspected premises to allow the Council's Food Safety database to be updated.

In each case you will be required to produce a follow-up letter to all inspected Food Businesses, using the Council's prescribed convention, to confirm the FHRS for the business and any improvement measures that need to be taken. This part of the task can be completed remotely.

Our client is based in NE London. The work programme is flexible and does not need you to work routine office hours, you are able to inspect when it is appropriate for you.

To be considered for this work you will need to provide us with evidence of your competency including EHRB registration. It is absolutely essential that you have recent inspection experience within a Local Authority.

We expect the vast majority of premises to be Cat C and D and we will be paying around £50-£60 per inspection. The work will be outside IR35.
