Technical Support Officer (Port Health)
(Five full-time, fixed term contract posts until 31 March 2022 subject to review, which may be extended subject to funding arrangement.)
£27,741 - £29,577 per annum plus shift allowance and weekend enhancement (currently under review), where appropriate
Belfast City Council is seeking to recruit Technical Support Officers for Port Health to provide support in undertaking a range of statutory services in relation to the protection of public and animal health at the Port of Belfast (PoB), Border Control Post in accordance with UK, NI and EU legislation.
You will undertake a range of food import control tasks, supporting the Environmental Health Officers to complete all of the checks and inspections that are needed, to ensure foods coming into Northern Ireland, both from Great Britain and other countries outside the EU, are safe and do not present a risk to public health, while at the same time helping NI’s supply chains to operate smoothly.
You must have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team and to prioritise and manage your own workload.
Due to the nature of the post and the port operating 24/7, you will be required to work evenings and weekends. Vacancies for other working patterns may arise and be filled from a reserve list.
