Job Details and Requirements

We’re a Joint Environmental Health Service delivering services to two Councils on the edge of the Peak District and the Sheffield City Region. Following a service review, our Strategic Alliance is investing in the service to ensure we deliver effective and efficient public protection services.

To fully realise our aspirations, and continue our Environmental Health improvement journey, we are now recruiting to a new post of Service Development Manager. Reporting directly to our Assistant Director, you will work closely with the Management Team to plan, shape, support and deliver continuous improvement, influencing managers and front line staff to engage with change and work in new ways.

You will manage a Systems Support Officer and have a role in the development of our IT systems but this role is wide in scope and also includes: -

  • Service and improvement planning
  • Strategy and policy development
  • Project management, support and planning
  • Organisation and cultural change
  • Business support
  • Training and development

You will be a collaborative and engaging individual with vision and creativity and an enthusiastic desire to contribute to the development of a high performing Environmental Health Service. The ideal candidate will have successful experience in managing projects from concept to delivery, managing multiple competing priorities, business process re-engineering and transformation and a high degree of computer literacy. Strong influencing, negotiation and diplomacy skills will be critical to success.

Whilst knowledge of local government and Environmental Health would be a benefit, relevant experience gained in the private sector would be something we would certainly consider.

We offer generous leave and flexitime allowances, essential car user allowance, local government pension scheme, discounted leisure services and free parking.

All posts are working from home during the pandemic and we are keen to support staff members to work flexibly in the future.
